Planning

When planning a trip, there are so many things to think about. There are big decisions like where to go and how to budget as well as the fun stuff like travel apps, picking a travel playlist and reading inspiration.

Here, I’ll talk you through how to plan, pack, budget and organise so that your next trip is a brilliant one.

Travel Inspiration Reading

When I’m not on the road, I always like to inspire myself with some travel themed reading. Guidebooks area always great for travel planning, but my favourite travel writing really has the power to transport readers to the places they’re writing about.

I love Paul Theroux’s writing for that exact reason.

What I’m reading right now

I always have a few books on the go and at the moment I’m reading:

The Great Railway Bazaar – Paul Theroux

Travel Photography – Lonely Planet

Alone in Berlin – Hans Fallada

Travel Apps

There are some pretty great travel apps out there, both for planning and recording a trip. Here’s a few of my favourites:

Instagram

An oldie, but a goodie. Instagram is still the #1 photo app on the internet with a new generation of influencers creating and sharing content each day. New additions like the Snapchat-style Instagram Stories also enable an in-the-moment look into what you’ve been up to before disappearing after 24hrs.

TraveLibro

A relatively new app for recording and documenting travels using photos, video and text to share your trip with your followers. There’s also a section for travel bloggers on there, so you can gain inspiration from me and from a number of other awesome bloggers’ trips as well!

Check out TraveLibro here.

been

iOS app been is great for creating visual representations of your travels by building interactive maps and giving you a percentage of the world that you’ve been to.
