the united states

Consumerism, huge cities, rugged landscape and amazing National Parks are all alive and well here in the USA. I love exploring the differences across this broad country and seeing a little more each time I visit.

USA

A nation full of surprises with an insane amount of variation depending on the region. I’ve been back four times now and haven’t even scratched the surface of just how amazing this country is.

The cities are huge, bustling and never seem to truly go to sleep. The nature and terrain is remarkably beautiful – even the deserts here are pretty stunning. There are countless wine regions across the country, an incredible number of national parks and beautiful mountainous areas that in winter are capped with snow.

Visited: California, Nevada, Arizona, Florida, Louisiana, Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania, District of Columbia.

The USA is a bloody huge country. With just under a month to see as much as possible, I decide to limit my exploration to a few key spots, so that I’m able to spend four or five days in each destination. Throughout those four-ish weeks, I ziplined across old Vegas,...

Halloween, Hangovers and Human Tragedy

Halloween, Hangovers and Human Tragedy

I arrive in New York just in time for Halloween, on a dreary and wet afternoon off a flight from sunny and warm LA. The massive weather adjustment here is a bit of a shock to the system after three weeks in California sunshine. By the time I arrive at my hostel, it’s...

Why Old Vegas Is Still The Vegas You Should Visit

As I cast my eyes over the unlikely crowd huddled around the Elvis impersonator wearing a wig worse that Donald Trump’s on the Fremont Street stage in Old Las Vegas, I see a mostly naked man in something skimpier than a man-kini bopping along. About five metres away...
